The Tale

After taking voluntary retirement from active politics in 1997, Sureshwar Datta acquired the property with his trust, GMT (Giribala Memorial Trust) in 1998 in Simultala, Bihar. Aiming to create a home away from home for the old aged in serene and tranquil ambit, in the lap of nature to cultivate and nourish the aged ones. A place where they can enjoy, recreate and explore a new domain of life and contribute to society even after their retirement. He continued his social works by uniting the locals and took an initiative in bringing electricity and telephone connections to the area. In 2002 he suffered a paralytic stroke which punctuated this venture. After his demise in 2011, the family’s visits to Simultala got lesser with every passing year and the house was left behind in the loyal hand of its caretaker. Until 2021 when the family decided to return to the soil and restart the lost mission with a newer vision to serve people. “Aradhana Resort and Restaurant” formerly known as “Ananyabasundhara” the holiday residence of Datta’s aims to experience people with a heritage stay and a health-retreat centre healing oneself in the virgin valley of Simultala breathing in a pollution-free atmosphere and consuming the water considered as “Amrit”.
